07 FXHO cooling hose recall

Just had a letter this morning from Yamaha UK for a cooling hose recall.
A revised hose kit needs to be fitted.

There have been some problems with clips working loose & hoses leaking or becoming detached.

Don't know if this effects you guys in the states or what other years it covers!

Dave, am I correct in thinking this recall will be free of charge ?

Do you think the job could be done in half a day ? ( I don't fancy having to drive twice to dealers ).

Yep, work carried out FOC.

Called dealer this morning, but he was not aware of the recall, so waiting for him to call me back next week.

Re: 07 FXHO cooling hose recall

I had a cooling hose ( to the exaust ) come free this summer. ( 07 HO ) It filled my hull approx 1/3 to 1/2 with water before I noticed. I think I would have noticed sooner but I had my BIG sister in law on with me. I thought she was the cause of my dragging. lol When I took the seat off and saw all that water I was saying WTF ! Replaced the spring clamp and so far so good. No recall letter yet.

Mine should be sorted later this week. Dealer has told me that they only recieved the bulletin last friday.

I have to admit I am impressed with Yamaha.......my ski is 20 months out of warranty with nearly 220 hrs on it........I have a feeling a certain other brand would not have bothered with a recall & let the owners pick up the cost of any damage that may be caused by a hose coming off.

Re: 07 FXHO cooling hose recall

Ski is in for recall tomorrow.

Spoke to the mechanic who will carry out the work......... involves 5 new hoses & stronger clips being fitted. He did say the new clips look very sturdy & are much stronger then the originals.

Re: 07 FXHO cooling hose recall

I wonder why they ever used the crappy spring clips to begin with. My ski could be on the bottom of the Atlantic . no lie.

Re: 07 FXHO cooling hose recall

Thought I would post a pic of the hoses & clips involved for those interested. The hoses are much heavier construction compared to the originals.
