Unhappy 04 fx hight output engine problems!!

I have a 2004 fx high output that i was driving last season in wildwood and all of a sudden it just shut off! I popped open the seat and there was oil all in my haul! Anyone have a suggestion on what it could be? I was told that the oil filters have a recall and they deterorate and it causes the motor to shut off? could that be possible? He said just put a new oil filter and top the oil off? Please let me know if anyone could help me! Thanks Julz

Why dont you do what you were told ????

No recall, but it helps to change the oil & filter every once in a while.

When was the last time you changed the filter ???

And yes it is possible, see it all the time.

Re: 04 fx hight output engine problems!!

Thanks for the replies. This does not pertain to my personal ski, I'm asking because I may purchase a ski with this issue. I'm experianced with 2 and 4 stroke engine repair from owning dirtbikes and quads as well as maintaing my landscaping equipment. I just wanted to see if this fx's engine is totally shot before purchase it as a project. Owner knows nothing about engine repair, and the local marina quoted him +3000 for repairs.

Re: 04 fx hight output engine problems!!

I would find out what repairs the marina quoted. I'm not a 4-stroke expert, but $3000 sounds a bit on the high side for an oil filter and oil top-off.

The filters rust a hole in them when lazy owners dont get the oil & filter changed......see it ALL the time.

We all know you are perfect Badboy & you would never let that happen.
