stx-15f and white smoke or steam from exhaust

Just wanted to confirm this. Is it normal to get smoke/steam coming out from the exhaust port while idling in the water? I can also notice steam streaming out while accelerating too. Is it just the cool seawater entering the exhaust port and then evaporating? Ski runs great. No water in the oil. I did a search and I noticed a few other people asking the same question. Thanks in advance.

Difficult to say without seeing it. One, as I'm not looking at your pwc. Two, when riding on mine, I'm looking forward, or up.....

Some is normal.

Just in case you don't, take an occasional peek at the bottom rear of your air box, to check for water in the "site glasses".

I believe it is normal. My 12-f puts out a little steam/white smoke while it idles. There is no issue at all with the engine.

Mine does the same thing. Not saying it's a good thing, just that mine does that, especially when it's a bit cold outside.

I look foward too, so I don't run into anything (obviously). I occasionally glance back (as should most people), and that is when I can see some steam coming out. Thanks for the other responses.

It's just steam from the cool water.

Exactly, the exhaust manifold gets hot to the point where it evaporates water coming out the exhaust hence the steam that you see, not smoke. If that nice white turns to black though, then u got problems.

It is seen as normal on skis with some hours especially used on sea water. Your engine's cooling jacket is somewhat restricted and the engine is running little hotter due to reduced cooling water flow rate than when new. In other words, the cooling efficiency is little reduced but not enough to trigger the heat sensor yet. It's like cholestrol building up inside your veins reducing the blood flowrate. When the cyl head is off, just scrub off the salt deposits inside in cooling passages of the cylinder - see cooling passages/holes. Just break off the debris and vacuum them up.
