STX 12F Oil

Hello. I'm going to help my friend change the oil in his STX 12F later and I was wondering if I could use the same oil that I run in my Honda, Amsoil 10w40 Motorcycle Oil, because I already have a case of it in my garage. Could someone also verify that the amsoil filter EaOM103 fits this ski?

And finally, is there anything special we should know about changing the oil in this ski? He just bought it and didn't get an owners manual. I believe it is an 04.

Thanks for the help!

Check with honda and see if it is the same filter as these. Yes you can run the AMSOIL 10w-40 Synthetic Motorcycle in that with no issues.

Re: STX 12F Oil

Yes I have that filter for my Honda, and it appears the same one is for my friend's 12f. That makes it easy to remember. Thanks.

So how about the oil change procedure? Anybody got tips?

Re: STX 12F Oil

There is a lengthy thread on this subject. Use the search feature.

A number of the PWCToday posters spend quite a bit of time putting a post together, and are not going to retype it each time someone asks. Trust me, it will be worth the time it takes to find it. Might even be easier if you search my posts, for oil, or oil change 15F.

Also, IMHO, I would never use anything but Marine Oil in a PWC.

I am with you normally on the Marine Oil for the PWC. The AMSOIL Motorcycle Oil does great for protecting against rust.

Re: STX 12F Oil

Put the trailer tongue on the ground and suck the oil out of the dipstick with a pump. You'll get a little over 5 qts out. Refill with 5 qts and call it good.

Re: STX 12F Oil

Hook up the water hose and warm it up a little it will speed up the oil coming out. I did mine cold last time and it took forever to get all of that cold thick oil out.
