| 2008 Ultra 250X taking on water Hi, I have a 2008 250X with about 12 hours on it. The last time I went out the ski started filling up with water and I had to have my buddy tow me to the dock and pull it out. I drained the bilge by removing the two rear plugs, checked the oil and it does not have water in the engine, but I am really worried about how the water got in the bilge in the first place and what other damage it may have done to the SC or other parts. I am taking it into the service dept this morning, but thought I would check on here and see what you guys think. This is my first ski, and I am not sure what to think about this. I was not submerging the ski or doing anything out of the ordinary that would have caused it to do this. I was running about 60 mph down the river and slowed down and the engine started to act strange, when I got on it again, I had hardly any power and I noticed I was sitting really low in the water, that is when I got off and tied it to a boat and pulled it out. I have not tried to start it since so I don't cause anymore damage. |

| Re: 2008 Ultra 250X taking on water was the flush valve closed??? Also put on hose to run and see where water is getting in. Since oil is good should not hurt motor. From the sound of it, maybe one of your hoses pooped off. Also pull the spark plugs to see if wet or rust has occured. Let us know after this is done. One ,one more thing. Pull the seat mount platform and when running on hose, check to if hoses on exhaust is leaking. I bet its the one leading to water box muffler. Now, if you have water intrusion in the motor there is a different drill to follow.

I dropped it off at the shop today, they have a tank for testing out skis and they are going to take a look. I just hope the can recreate this so it is covered under warranty. I will let you know what I hear from them. |

| Re: 2008 Ultra 250X taking on water Just got a call from the service dept at the dealership, they said it was a coolant hose that came loose. They said Kawasaki was going to pay for them to fix it, but since I had 12 hours on it (I had plans to bring it in this week for it) and it should have already been in for the 10 hours service, that I was lucky they were going to cover this. I asked what it entailed and they said putting the hose on and tightening the clamp. Now, since the water was over the pulley for the SC, the service manual indicates that they should replace the bearings in the pulley, he basically told me not to push it, they were not going to do anything else for me on this. I really think I have to find another service dept to use from now on. Even if I had them do the 10 hour before I took it out, who's to say they would have even caught this issue? I just wonder what else may be messed up due to the water being so high in the engine compartment. I'm done venting now.

| Re: 2008 Ultra 250X taking on water Basically both dealerships said the bearing was fine, but if it ever does go out, they will then replace it under warranty, provided that I am still covered under a warranty. Basically they are telling me to get the extended warranty, which I was going to get anyway from the dealership that sells them on ebay for like $600, so they won't see any profit from me buying it anyway. If I decide I am going to keep it past the one year mark I will get the warranty at that time. |

| Re: 2008 Ultra 250X taking on water I also have a 250x but a 2007. GET the extended warranty. You will need it. Sooner then later. The dealership I take my ski too covered an entire new motor after I got an Oil pressure light that came on, engine just shut off, not able to restart it at all. NO warning lights on this thing. Under the extended warranty, which they did not need to do. They still can not figure out what was wrong or don’t want to admit what was wrong. But I'll tell you that if you don’t have the extended warranty and do ALL the scheduled maintenance right on the hour you need to service it, that is the excuse they will use. You never brought it in when service was needed. Allot of people TRY to do the scheduled maintenance them selves but that just gives the dealership one more thing to put blame on you. I've had to pay threw the teeth for what they charge but it has paid off in the long run. I have over 300 hours on my motor and is still running strong. Good luck and safe riding ! |

| Re: 2008 Ultra 250X taking on water some dealers tend to work with you and others just dont care. i took mine for warranty work to the place i bought it and they did work with me. the guy asked if i did my own service ...of course i do all my services. that never voided the warranty though
go to where u bought it.
