What causes superjet tray sides to suck in?

What up all, Just was trying to figure out why my 97 RN sides suck in... The right side (exhaust side) sucks in on the tray side and the exterior side, and the left side just has a slight bowing on the exterior side. I heard this is more prominent in the white hulls... but ive also seen a 08 RN start to do the same thing. Just wondering if it is something I should worry about. If you guys cant visualize let me know.. ill get some pics, just imagine holding a straight edge against the side rail above the trim horizontally. its boggles the mind ....lol.

All SJ hulls do that. The only way to fix it is to cut open the inside of the tray, dig out the existing foam, and pour in a lot of expanding foam, so it forces it back out and flat again. Being concave doesn't make a performance issue, just looks funny.

My right side does it. I only looks bad in pictures, haha. I figured it was from slamming down on my side so much but I don't know, it's never really bothered me. It's definately not the ugliest thing on my ski...

Its from the foam creating a vacuum inside the hull while the fiberglass is curing. Atleast thats what trinity composites told me

But wouldn't the foam be added after the fiberglass has already cured? Mine didn't show up until my hull was six years old

Re: What causes superjet tray sides to suck in?

mine was the same way. when i put in new foot holds, i gutted as much foam as i could, glassed in the holds and sealed everything. cut a dimed size hole on the top part of side, took a screw driver and got as much foam as i could out untll it was a big cavity. then, took two part foam, poured it in there. waited for a few secconds till i could see the foam coming up. right before it came out i pressed the palm of my hand over the hole ( USE GLOVES ) and as i held it, it forced the foam deep into the trey till it had no where to go, and it pushed out the sides. SUPER EASY. be carful, you may over do it. i have heard of people blowing out sides and foot holds by doing this.

Yeah, you don't want to use too much liquid. Not sure what the exact number is, but I think the can says it grows to 60 times it's size. But you want most of it to be compact as well.
