sn 650 superjet problem

I have a 1990 650 sn superjet that always fires right up and runs great. After riding for a while it will just cut out and quit running. It always fires right back up and runs good for a few minutes and then does it again. Doesn't do it when the gas tank is full, but once it gets down a little it starts to cut out and die. The ski is pretty much stock, just a K&N filter and pjs ride plate. Anyone have an idea of what might be the problem, I'm thinking it may be a fuel filter issue.

Re: sn 650 superjet problem

send a pm to Kraqus a personal message. He had the EXACT problem and he got it fixed recently. He should be able to help you out. I actually had the EXACT same problem with my Blaster 4 years ago and www.theskiclinic.com fixed it for me. I can't remember what part needed to be replaced.

Re: sn 650 superjet problem

same here for my 650, what fixed mine was replacing the tank check valve which was toast and extending my fuel pickup tube to the very bottom of tank.

I got your PM.

I don't think my issues were the same as the one you are having. I say this because in the way you are describing the symptoms. I would check what 5810 says as this is most likely what is causing the "dead while moving" problem you seem to have.

My issue was first the Start/Stop switch which was all corroded. and second I had a BAAAD Fuel filter, so bad it was sending chunks down my Carburetor and clogging it. The both had symptoms unlike yours

Re: sn 650 superjet problem

Already had the start stop switch problem, cleaned the connections and it seems to be fine. So I think your right thats not it. I rebuilt the carb and changed the filter in it before it was ever in the water. The fuel pickup/sending unit is where I will go next.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm a 440/550 kawi guy, just trying to get this fixed so I can sell it. I just have too many skis.

ummm . . . I used to be a kawi 650 guy and then I used to be a kawi 550 guy. Then I got a SN. Noticed I put "used to be." Instead of selling the SN , sell the 440 or 550(s).

Re: sn 650 superjet problem

Because you say the problem starts when the fuel level in the tank goes down only a little, check your fuel pick-up lines for cracks or anywhere you could get air into the lines. You can also try running on your auxiliary fuel curcuit to see if it any different.

Re: sn 650 superjet problem

Tried the reserve fuel line and it doesn't make any difference.
