| New SN SJ Rider in The Delta! Hey all... Ive been lurking this site for awhile, and finally bought my first ski. I rode a old school 550 and had a blast, than I found a '90 SN SJ in pretty good condition for $450. It has an aluminum hand pole, spring, coffman pipe, 0* Umi bars, Umi billet finger throttle, protec plate, protec grate, skat trac impeller and a k and n. I have ridden it 3 times so far with no problems (carb needs a rebuild or adjustment, but still runs good).
However some friends and I went out Friday, and my ski came to a stop and had a whine/grind noise under the tray under throttle and no movement. We got back and I removed the pump and found that my driveshaft splines stripped on the driveshaft, and most likely the mid shaft as well.
In your opinions should I part out the ski, or replace the driveshaft, midshaft/coupler? Also does anyone have one I can buy? And lastly do you need to slide the motor forward to remove the coupler/ bearing/ midshaft assembly? Thanks for helping out a local rider. |
