Endurance Racing

Seeing if there is any interest in stand-up riders and x-2's in doing more endurance races this season. I really would like to do more of them myself but its always more fun when other stand-ups are present. Next year I will be hopefully racing in all the endurance races more so than buoy course racing and wanted to get others opinions on if they are interested as well....

Re: Endurance Racing

Would you care to explain to the racing rookies?
I know what a buoy race is but......What is an endurance race?

Endurance Racing

Benny,
Endurance racing is a type of race where its a Point A to Point B race. There are no buoys just open water. DJSA has 5 scheduled for this season but one has already been done. The races can range anywhere from 40-85 miles in length and is a great test about yourself. It is a way to push yourself and your boat to the limit. Last year I ran a race from Oakley to Rio Vista back up to Pittsburg and back down to Oakley. I had to fuel once but I was also using a 750sxi pro that was dual carbed so it sucked fuel. I am sure I can get around 30+ miles on one tank of fuel in my squarenose. It was a test for myself because there are times you just want to quit but you would only be cheating yourself. Last year I had a chase boat follow me with fuel to have a pitstop. This season and especially next season I will have a chase sitdown jetski following me with a couple 5 gallon tanks for pitstops and possibly a GPS system for navigation. Its super fun and a great way to test your endurance and stamina. Soo don't get me wrong buoy racing on a closed course is great, exciting, and a test of your will but after my first endurance race the feeling of acclomplishment and overall 'high' was way greater than closed course racing. My goal by next year is to run all DJSA endurance races as well as the Long Beach to Catalina Island race and the Marc Hahn in Havasu......

Camo Joe...though I love to see you crazies on stand-ups doing Enduro's...they do not let stand-ups do the Long Beach to Catalina and back anymore. I know Shawn Alladio had done that in the past...it is about 53 miles.

The Mark Hahn is spectacular for anyone testing themselves. Talk to Pig Dog sponsored rider JB about it. Last Feb, I chased Pete Z and partner through some horrific waves and those guys kept on going!!! It's like...do two laps (20 miles), fuel, change riders..repeat! 300 miles of that!

Shrock-I talked to the Ross Wallach, president of RPM Racing yesterday who I guess is the person running the race from Catalina and he had no problem with me running the race. I told him that I would have a chase ski following me with fuel. It is all good if ANY stand-up rider wants to do the race but you CANNOT refuel in the open ocean. He said as long as I could go the 26 miles to catalina and refuel over on the dock there would be no issues. So I know my ski can make it 26 miles no problem on one tank of fuel. The only problem for me is after talking to him I found out that I can't make it that weekend this year anyways so I told him that he would definately see me next year on the starting line.--------By the way it was a funny conversation because when I asked him if I could do it there was a pause in the conversation and then a little chuckle on his end, but after I explained how I would do it he was all for me coming down and trying.

I might be interested. Could you imagine what a cool chase ski the jetmate will make! If we are part of an organized race, I wonder if the standard age rules would apply to pwc drivers? Candis would go crazy if she could drive the jetmate 30-50 miles, that would make her summer.

I did that race too, and it was a lot of fun. Austin and I ended up beating a couple of sitdowns.

I too would like to see some Stand up enduro races.
