Michigan City Launch ramp?

I was thinking about taking a day trip to Michigan City to hit Lake Michigan. What is the best place to launch there? I would prefer a short idle zone because I am riding an SXR.

I found Washington Park Marina, but it looks like a fairly long, but doable, idle zone to the lake.

Any advice on other launches?

thanks

Re: Michigan City Launch ramp?

Washington Park is the only place i found to launch in Michigan City. It is a long ride around the break walls, it is expensive to park and you must pull your ski out of the water to refuel. So it is not my favorite place on Lake Michigan. I like New Buffalo, Mi as it is a shorter ride out and cheaper. I also like Lake St beach in Gary as you launch right in to the lake so no idle zone and it is cheap.

Re: Michigan City Launch ramp?

Lake Street has been where Dave and I have always gone. As long as the ramp is clear, you'll have no problems.
