| I had a bit of a scare today on Morse, lesson learned though. Let's start off with the lesson I learned: Do not ride a 15 year old stand up jetski (especially one you just bought on ebay and have never ridden) when the water temp is 50ish degrees and there is nobody out on the lake to get your *** out if you break down. Now how about the story.
My parents bought my brother and I an old 750sx on ebay for xmas this year and obviously I have been itchin to ride it ever since, and since the ride on the river was canceled yesterday due to the storms, my buddy and I decided to give the new ski a try on Morse (I live on Morse). The ski was at a house on the other end of the lake though and we had to ride it back to my house - maybe 2 miles or so. The two of us got it started in the garage to make sure it would even start, carried it down to the water and I rode around close to shore for a while to make sure it ran well. Rode around for 5-10 minutes and it seemed to be running tip top, so I handed it over to my friend to ride back to my house as he can't drive my Jeep as its a stick haha. I got back to my house and waited for him to show up for a few minutes and he never did which I thought was strange, so I drove out to the bridge to see if I could see him. Didn't see him, but a guy fishing said he saw him so I was like "okay he must be back now then and we must have passed as I was driving to the bridge to look for him". Unfortunately I get back to my house and he is still nowhere to be found. At this point I'm getting pretty nervous as obviously nobody has a boat in the water to go look for him if the ski had died out in the middle of the lake. So I decide I'm going to go to a friends house which has a great vantage point of that entire side of the lake (for those of you familiar with Morse, there is a gorgeous, monstrous limestone house and boat/guest house right near the island, thats where I was). As I'm running around the property scanning for my friend with light fading fast, I'm probably 5 minutes away from either calling fire and rescue, or stealing my friends boat from the boat house (this is not the same friend on the jetski, this is another mutual friend of ours) to go find him. Then I hear my horn honk in the driveway and I run back and see him in my Jeep. Apparently the thing had conked out in the middle of the lake and he had to swim a few hundred yards in that cold water and beach the ski and this house. Then I find out that he had gone into this house to use their phone to call me assuming they were home, but no they werent and their alarm system started going nuts. Ofcourse we can't get ahold of the home owner on his cell phone, so here we are sitting in the driveway of a multimillion dollar home in our wetsuits, assuming the cops are about to show up assuming to arrest us for B&E (cops never came or anything though, we eventually got it handled haha). It was quite an evening to say the least and now on top of all that I have to figure out why the jetski conked out lol!

| Re: I had a bit of a scare today on Morse, lesson learned though. I had a motor blow on my VXR out there when I first bought it. It was February in the middle of the day. Luckly, the wind and the waves drove me to shore about 3 doors down from an ex girlfriends parents house. My dad was with me at the dock as he wanted to ride as well. He didn't see me for a while, so he deceided to come and look for me. Sure enough he found me close to the bridge. He put my other ski in the water and towed me back to the ramp. I was lucky that he was there! It's a PITA, not to mention the thought of having to shell out the cash to rebuild the motor! |

I want to get my 2 skis out...but notice the call on the "tow" buddy if needed on Dave's other posts. I think both will be just fine...but I could see me floating down the white river now until I came to a scratching stop on rocks 20 miles from where I put in with a dead ski LOL

I think the B2 has spent more time towing then being ridden. Might put some amber flashing lights, a recovery hook, and a couple of triple AAA stickers on the back. |

LOL....I will likely take them to a local "NON LEGAL" lake to "DIP" them to make sure I don't have any hull leaks, water leaks and to get the idle semi close and then head down to your spot at Broadripple ....maybe even tomorrow. I want to get them tested....tuned before summer. If I have issues...I want to fix them now! I doubt I will...but ya never know. I also want to set up my Rev limiter for the B1 ....before my family and friends try riding it. You say there are some spots to run 70mph on on the river? I know you said it's night in spots....but I need to do some high speed passes.

Yeah, you can hit 70 on a few spots basically from the low dam up river to the first spilt for the spillway (don't know what else to call the little dam on the other side of the island). Much farther upstream from that it gets narrow and there are docks on both sides. Last thing you want to do is eat crap in that area plus it's only about 4-5 feet deep. Erik might be able to go out tomorrow. I won't be able to, but I will be up on Morse Sunday helping Dave with the 650 and 750. I'm sure he wouldn't mind an extra pair of hands.

M | It's not too bad for the most part. Yeah it's muddy, but they don't dump crap in it per say, at least in the spring and summer. They do dump some less then fully clean water in the winter, but the clean water act makes them keep it clean during the summer. The E-coli count was below what is required by the government. In other words the water was safe for exposure. Still wouldn't drink it.LOL Actually the river is cleaner then Morse and Geist during the summer as it doesn't get the Blue Green algea. |
