Welcome to the board!
As far as trolling goes, don't do what I did which was to get a rod holder that held rods straight up. This means my lines are only a foot apart at best which is bad news. Also my rod holders go over the back end lip of the ski which means I can't use a sled when I go trolling. Also means I can't bring my fish bag with me on a sled, or have a good place to put a big fish unless I want to try putting it in the gunnels and holding it in place with a leg.
My set-up:
Needless to say, I rarely fish. Just a bad set-up for me. Also since I'm deaf, I need to put my rods up front so I can watch for a reel spooling instead of constantly cranking my head around to check for a bite. I got a Scotty rod mount and am thinking of mounting it somewhere up front.... Don't know if it will work out well.
Ideal rod set-up, and an ideal fish! Obviously not me - I will ask the guy to join up on this board - maybe he will. He also makes lures... I'd like to find out more about his set-up.
My HSA board is starting to fall apart, so I may be interested in checking out a lifesled board. My biggest gripe with the boards is that they're set up for rescue work/tow-in. I would like to see a model that has more flush attachment points for equipment, etc. I've lost over a thousand dollars worth of gear because the bungee straps will sometimes shift, and more importantly, I suck at tying down my stuff...
Where do you want to fish, and what kind of fish are you looking for?
