Re: sj vs fx-1

The fx1 was and is still the only ski ever purposely built for freestyle. Lighter than a sj, 701 motor. True fiberglass hull, plus there were only a handful made. And they are the shyt!

Re: sj vs fx-1

i had an fx1..... meh...

they werent 'built' for freestyle. if they were, it was for mid-90's freestyle, when subs and tailstands were the shizz. i mean, why would they use such a puzzyazz pump in them, when they already had the 144 pump? whats up with that handlepole way the F up there? is it picking cherries?

IMO, they built it for the kawi guys to try to bait and switch them to eventually buying a super jet.... which is what the OP should do.

Re: sj vs fx-1

if you buy an fx1 id put a 144 pump in it and a set of tubbys . you will like it alot .
but the c.o.g. is still not as good as a sj .
i guess you have to ask your self , am i gonna compete or lake bust .
fx1 you can skimp more on motor , but youll need help in other areas .
sj is great and there are alot of upgrade parts available . and its alot better for hood tricks . and more stable right off the bat . also tray is wider but if all youre building is a lake buster and a wave jumper an fx1 with tubbys will do the trick if its what you like . and when you bust the hull you can bolt almost everything in a aft mkt hull that s real light too .

so the real question is compete = sj
lake bust = what ever you can get a deal on

Re: sj vs fx-1

I'd get a square nose 701 SJ, already lowered pole and they are cheap with great potential.
