Q8 flatwater backflip

Ok so I am looking to either buy a new freestlye jet ski or a nice hull. Now my question is if I were to buy a hull like the Q8 would I would be able to backflip it flatwater with a stock 750 motor? Whats my best and cheapest bet in doing a flat water back flip

Lol, no. The reason I say that is because back flipping isn't all in the ski. It's all in the rider. You've got to have commitment and skill. LOTS of friggen' skill. If you want to back flip, then get a full carbon hull, with a 1000cc motor, and spend a season or two doing nothing but trying to back flip every other day. Not trying to shoot down your dreams, but that's how the sport is. You'll never flat water backflip with a stock 750. It will never happen. Malone has a video where he backflips a Q8 with a 800, and I think it had a pipe, but he barely got around. It was dirty, but it was a flip. But Eric is an INCREDIBLE rider. 8x World Champion, and he barely got a flip in with a 800. That's saying quite a bit. And I wouldn't expect to be flipping any time soon if I were you. Your still young. I'm also 16, but if all goes as planned, I should be back flipping by Nationals in September, but I've been jet skiing for a long time now, and I ride all the time. It's not going to be easy, by any means, but I think that I have enough skill for it, and my 2010 freestyle set up will easily be able to flip. I just need to practice on it.

Not trying to shoot down your dreams, I'm just answering a VERY common question that pops up in this forum A LOT. If your serious about flipping, then get a part time job, put the money into a bank to let the interest build up, and maybe start building a good motor and get a light hull in a few years. It's not going to be easy. It wasn't easy for me to get where I am now, but it was totally worth it.

Re: Q8 flatwater backflip

I totally understand but trust me I can give it the commitment. I am just trying to find the best way to start out. I can not find out what would be the best choice either making my own engine and dropping it into a nice hull or buying a sj and decking it out. I never said it was easy to backflip but thats where I want to end up. I also think thats totally cool you being 16 and already that good. How did you start do you work with someone?

My dad and one of his friends are pro freestyle riders. He got me started when I was 10, and slowly got me into competition. Riding with 2 pros and a couple of other amateurs is good practice for me, because I'm getting tips from everyone, but I'm also competing against my own teammates at events.

If you want to get started in freestyle, start small, and work your way up to the backflip. It's not going to be your first trick. You want to first upgrade to a decent round nose super jet. The super jet is the best platform for amateur freestyle. (people are going to jump on here later and say 'get a sxr, blah blah blah). You want a round nose super jet. It has more cc's per pound than a sxr, and they're smaller, and easier to throw around. When you start getting more funds, that's when you build up the motor. But start with the small tricks like powerslides, subs, 180s. When you start getting more power, then that's when you start doing the big tricks like barrel rolls and big throws.
