Help with a trim system

Ok so I got a 650 sx that am putting a X2 trim on it. Am thinking a lever on the left side with a cable, so it will be squeeze and trim goes up. My question is how to run the cable or where through (I know the hull) but more specific. And 2nd does the back has to be cut and if so how much. I know I've seen a ski with this done and the back cut some time ago, but I can't find it now. Any help greatly appreciated thanks Dre

Re: Help with a trim system

im doing this projet on my 750 sx i have an x2 trim but i did not end up using it when you flip the nozzle over you have to match the steering cable side up i belive the trim knob os on the other side.... you will need to drill all the way through the hull and the foam between the back end of the ski into the right side of the hull then you can put a piece of pvc pipe through the hull to run the bable through a rubber boot and caulk to seal off the pipe into the hull so that the calble and pipe will not let water through

the reason i did not use the x2 trim system is you will have to fabricate a bracket of some sort to lock the cable into so it will have tension with you pull the lever it will have enough pressure the pull the trim up
that braket will be bolted to the top bottom of the tray

the hardest part is getting a bracket and figuring out how the system will be hooked up and work properly and reliably

as for cutting the back of the hull i cut an arc in the face of the tray enough to clear the trim nozzle best thing to do is hook up the trim and get it to the point you can measure what you need then cut it out just keep measuring so you do not cut to little and have to do it again cause that is a pain

good luck

Re: Help with a trim system

Tokarzl, so you did cut the back of your ski already, can you post some pics so I can get an idea and as far as the bracket I think that would be the easy part, I am guessing tho that the hard part would be the drilling of the hull or getting pass all the foam! I appreciate your input.

Well this is what I've done so far, reinforced the inside and hand pole area, shaved the hood, shaved and relocate the fire extinguisher, shaved the inside compartment, made an aluminum hand pole, made my own and installed foot holds, 14 staright pitch skat trak, WC grate. Now for the engine a 750 small pin, w/pjs exhaust, wc exhaust mani, pjs waterbox, pjs head,k&n filter on top a stock 38mm. paint job hope it to be next week. I might just install the wedge and a 1 inch spacer on the nozzle and let it be.

Re: Help with a trim system

if anything put a 650 nozzle on it its bigger you loose top end but get better hook up on bottem end.. if you got some time its not a bad project if your riding surf especially on a 650 it could be the difference in landing better tricks

I am running the 650 sx nozzle. JRE makes a 1" spacer that its supposed to act as a rip turn nozzle since it pushes it out an extra inch.
