| Re: Bro Hymn 10 Backflips! Impressive. That obviously takes a special ski and a skilled rider to pull off.
How many flatwater backflips in a row is now "enough", by today's standards?
I guess I mean, when I saw the vid of malone doing 3 in a row a few years back at the WF, I was REALLY amazed. Now that I've seen 6 and 10, I have to admit that it doesn't amaze me as much anymore as malone first did. Now, when someone pulls off 20 in a row, with the last flip landing their ski firmly back on to their beach stand or trailer/tote, THAT will renew my amazement .

| Re: Bro Hymn 10 Backflips! I think that Malones '06 routine is still better then any of the 2009 routines, just because he had a better variety of tricks, and they were all big. Last year was just a 'Pro' Flip contest. It was cool, but it was the same thing over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and... |

Its sorta like when the backflip first hit MX...then you see a double backflip...then you just see a bunch more backflips. While its all cool, and no matter what you always wish you could do them...you want to see something different.
Backflips are sorta like girls...they are great at first but soon enough you will grow tired of them. |

Maybe it's time to separate 'backflipping many times in a row' FROM freestyle.
Now that we all know 'backflipping many times in a row' is completely humanly possible, and frankly, starting to look easy when done by pros on the right machines, just take it out of freestyle alltogether. Make the 'backflipping many times in a row' a separate contest - like jumping barrels on ice skates or slalom - and stop wasting freestyle routine time on it. The rider who pulls off the most backflips in a row wins that contest, and then freestyle rountines can go back to what they used to be - anything but routine. That's my 2 cents...

Seems like today it's whoever has the most money, the biggest motor, and the lightest ski is considered the best rider. That's completely screwed up. Take it back 5 years to were people were actually doing routines. Put a cc limit on pro freestyle. Get the pros to start getting creative. I bet if people needed to start trying new stuff in order to win then a couple new tricks would be invented. If it keeps up like this, freestyle as a spectator sport will never take off.

| Re: Bro Hymn 10 Backflips! I agree, all this backflipping and stuff is cool but the freestyle videos from the 90's were far more interesting.
