The Mighty Missouri is Thawing!

I live on river road in Bismarck, so I get the pleasure of seeing my beautiful river every day! I have noticed that the waterway is becoming much wider to the receding ice! I am actually suprised at how the main channel has changed from last year. Due to all of the snow and moisture this year is should make for some interesting new riding opportunities! There are so many backwater runs that would have been a blast last year, but water levels would not permit running them. This year I don't think that it will be a problem! Spring is on the way!!!!

You're preaching to the choir on that one. Weston and I were riding in late march of last year!

Re: The Mighty Missouri is Thawing!

Hopefully the sand bar I smoked last summer will be underwater! I dont know if my body could take another one of those ejections!
I too have noticed the change in sand terrain. I havent been down there, butit is my understanding that "The Desert" is gone! Washed down river.
The back draws as well as the heart should be awesome this year.

I say we put in at Fox and see if we can make it up the Heart to the golf course this spring!

As soon as the skiis are done we will be going to the hot tub for some test n tune sessions. I suppose it wont be till late april though, but the water should be 60 or so by then up there.

LOL. I remember that night riding. I was riding in front by about 25 yards. I like to keep my head on a swivel to make sure I know where other riders at all times. I hadn't looked back in probably 20 seconds because I was carving through the draws, when I did look back I noticed that I was all alone!. I raced back around the curve to find Wes sitting next to his beached ski in about an inch of water. After I realized that he was alright, we had a good laugh!

Re: The Mighty Missouri is Thawing!

I found out that there is a steel farmers dam on the heart about half way to mandan from the Missouri, so with out carrying the skis over it we cant make it to the golf course, but I'd still like to see how far we can go! I also know some cool areas out where I used to live (west of town) where the heart is deeper and wicked twisty. No ramps out there, but there are a couple spots where you can drive right up to the shore.

I somehow don't think that riding the heart would be a challenge today....you might have to dodge the occasional ice block, but a little dam now on the bottom would be the least of our worries!
