2009 Yamaha

We were fortunate to be invited to the Watercraft World Dream Demo and to check out the new 2009 skis. Here are some pics of some of the Yamaha line up. The new FZ series looks pretty nice and it is good to see Yamaha getting back into the smaller performance skis again. It very much looks like a spruced up GPR. (a good thing I think)
One thing I still do not like about Yamaha is that the storage compartment does not have a removable liner. Makes for a mess to clean if you get a leaky oil bottle or something in there.SHO engine performance with a GPR type hull seems like a good combo.

Re: 2009 Yamaha

Why would you carry a "oil bottle" in a 4-stroke PWC??

Re: 2009 Yamaha

Actually meant real oil. A spare quart. if you are out on the water for a long day and far from your home port it pays to be ready. I have not had a major engine failure in my actual boat in 1300hrs of use but I still carry some oil, powersteering fluid, a spare fan belt, etc. You cannot get out and walk from most places. 4 strokes still have oil in them they just do not burn it. I also bring along a few simple tools in case you get a clogged fuel filter or a leaky line. You might be able to make a simple repair and make it home.

Re: 2009 Yamaha

I always carry a spare jug of oil on my FX HO, it does consume a small amount and we check them before we take off, every few rides it needs a top off.

Re: 2009 Yamaha

No they were not. I think it was just some old 4 place they must use for R&D or something.

Re: 2009 Yamaha

Yamaha hasn't gotten back into smaller watercraft. The FZR is longer than a Seadoo RXT 3 seater.
