Oct. 3rd weekend SkyWay Ride St. Pete

There is a group from NewPort Richey planning a gathering at the Holiday Inn SunSpree in St. Petersburg Fl. for October 3rd and 4th This place was one of the PWC Poker run/Rally stops that many of us went to in the past, The Rally series always did this stop in April when it was cold and choppy. We know that October has much better conditions to ride this area and the water will still be plenty warm. Egmont key, St.Pete Pier and Terra Verde are all places to vist on the ride and the Hotel is great with plenty of beach front parking for skis. Any one who would like to attend will be welcome, post any questions you may have and they will be answered.

Re: Oct. 3rd weekend SkyWay Ride St. Pete

This ride will be great for local people as well as people that want to come from other areas and spend a nice weekend at the hotel and riding in the area.
There is a boat ramp acrossed the street and like Tom said plenty of protected water to keep skis in even over night.
Couple pics from last years rally.

Re: Oct. 3rd weekend SkyWay Ride St. Pete

I will check my schedule for that weekend to see if I'm off from work. I just passed thru there today and we were talking abt that.
I can't beleive nothing happpend after that Poker run. I will pass the news to my friend they love to ride and they live in brandenton. I come from new orleans just to ride there. I know is far but the water is pretty and clear specially in sarasota and sieta key, all that area. That's cool guys. Plenty riders in that area, good idea. Can get some bouys and do some races too just for fun....
Cool!!!!!

Re: Oct. 3rd weekend SkyWay Ride St. Pete

Sounds good, A few people from the Space Coast Jet Riders Club said they are going also. I called to see what a group rate would be but the girl gave us a price of $89.00 per night, But If you book in advance on line the rate is only $77.00 per night so it’s not like she is giving us any great deal, so I'm booking on line. As of now there are about 20 people saying they are going, the more people the better the weekend will be and if all works out then we will do it once a year. It was great when we once had the poker runs scattered around the state but since that has disappeared its now up to all of us to find places to gather and have our own events. The Lovers Key weekend event that Todd and Terry put on once a year is a great example of a Fantastic watercraft gathering, so let’s use that as an example and start forming more gatherings, it would be nice to have at least 3 places that we could all meet up at around the state each summer and ride.

Re: Oct. 3rd weekend SkyWay Ride St. Pete

That is funny that you would plan it now, the Tampa Bay Jet Ski club has been hosting an event each year at Little Harbor just across the bay. We have had the event around this time each year but this year decided to change the event into a picnic the 4th of October down at Coquina Beach. I wish we could have planned something together sooner. We actually were talking of changing the venue to the Sunspree since we also miss attending events such as the rally. I am not sure if any of our group are going to be interested but I will post this up and see. Hopefully we can help plan something in the coming years. I am sure if you talk to the other groups they would also host some events. Planned events yearly such as Lover's Key are a great thing.
