New to jetskiing... and loving it!

Hey everyone! Just thought I'd do a little intro of myself and share a funny story.
My name is Suliman Ayad. I'm 18 years old and I bought my first jetski on my 18th birthday (used of course). It's a beautiful Kawasaki STX 12F metallic blue and white(I'll have pictures up before long) and since then I've been obsessed. Unfortunatley due to the cold i've only taken it out 5 or 6 times since then.

So now on to my amusing anecdote...
I took my jetski out yesterday for a speed trial. I had been reading that the 12F can hit 55 on smoothesque water so I just had to test it out. This was also my first time riding solo. There was a big boat to my far left but other than that I had a straightaway. I rev it up man did it go! It was wavier than I had hoped for so I had to focus really hard to make out what the speedometer was reading. After I saw that I had hit 55 I looked up... to see 3 huge waves from the boat heading my way. The rest is mostly a blur... I released the throttle, braced myself, and got a little more air than a 3 seater is probably supposed to get- but I came out of it laughing.... thankfully with my jetski in one piece.
Moral of the story: Always watch the water.
And believe me that lesson was well learned

Also the speedo isn't an accurate indicator of speed, you should look into getting a gps (for other reasons too), do some searching around this board for tons of info.
