New from Beaumont, TX

I've had a few older model (around 1994-1997) jet ski's in the past 7 years. Pretty much you could say I only purchased older models because I have used them mainly in the salt water of the Gulf of Mexico for fun and to take fishing lines out to deeper water from the beach to catch sharks. I never wanted to buy a new ski just to have it get abused and damaged at the beach when you can find older ones at good prices.

The 1996 tiger shark I had for the previous few years broke down out in the salt water last summer and I didn't have time to really get it cleaned out so the salt water really did some damage. I just got rid of it.

A couple of weeks ago I came across a 1990 Kawasaki Jet Mate in a local listing. It is in pretty good shape except that the motor needed rebuilt. I got it for $600 so I figure I will finish fixing it up and play with it as a new unique "toy" since most people I come across have never seen one. In fact, I was searching for information about Jet Mates when I came across this site.

So far not counting the motor currently in the Jet Mate I have 3 replacement motors (2 already rebuilt and ready to install) and everything I need to rebuild the others. It has a small place on the front bottom of the hull which also needs repair but that should not be much of a problem and I should have it ready to put in the water for this summer. I am looking forward to learning more from the forums here which are directly related to the Jet Mates and if anyone is wondering why I need so many motors for the Jet Mate it is because I will be using it in salt water also and want to make sure I keep a few good rebuilt motors on hand so I can switch them out every 2 years or so in a rotation because unless something changes I plan to keep the Jet Mate for many years to come.

Enough with my rambling...I'm just glad to have found such a great forum....
