Need hep with purchase transfer from ct to nj

Hi,
I have been a member on the site for a while but I am just buying a ski now. I am purchasing a 2001 Seadoo XP from a private seller in Connecticut. He has the title for the ski but as far as I know in both states the trailer does not need a title. Basically what I need to know is since I will be towing it from Connecticut to New Jersey what do I need to do to make this legal. Do i need to register the trailer, do I need to get a temporary plate for it or is the proof of sale on the Ski and trailer all I need. I just don't want to get pulled over for towing a trailer without license plates on it that isn't registered and have it impounded or something.

HELP PLEASE

BRIAN

if your state does not require a trailer title / plate, you are not required to have one. you can travel through other states, with out issue. check your local laws to be sure.

just for instance, i am in WI, we do not have trailer plate, but IL does. we go down there all the time, to go the lake michigan ect, and i have never had an issue, because i am from WI, and my truck is registered here in WI.

keep a bill of sale with you, signed, and dated, jsut incase you do get pulled over, but i really doubt you will.

hope this helps. zig
