Just joined from Jacksonville, FL

Hi. I just purchased an '04 yamaha fx ho and an '04 yamaha xlt1200. I live in Jacksonville, FL and have no idea where to put my waverunners in the water. I live just west of the intercoastal on beach blvd. I have no intentions of putting them in until it warms up, but I would like to be the first one out there. Does anyone have any suggestions. Also any tips or good to know things for my new ski would be helpful also as I am new to the entire pwc community.
One last thing, where is the best place to get salt away. West marine is $44 a gallon. That's a little steep. Thanks

Best advice I can give you is to learn the rules of the road and get all the required safety gear before the hulls even touch the water.

Re: Just joined from Jacksonville, FL

Thanks a lot Boris. I have gotten all the requirements for PWCs from the FWC and made sure that's all squared away. I do have a question though. Are you required to carry visual distress devices such as flares on board a pwc? The requirement states that vessels less than 16ft are only required to carry them if after sunset, but ur not allowd to operate them after sunset or before sunrise. Some people say that I am still required to carry them.

Usually in open water it's a good idea. Anything outside of eysight but I'd have some if you plan on going into the Atlantic of Gulf on the west coast. I'm in St. Pete/Clearwater and figured it can't hurt to have them. Overkill on safety doesn't hurt.

Welcome from Siesta Key!

I agree with getting in the basics like riding rules and regulations before heading out....else the Water PoPo will be with you very quickly!
The best safety is always a second (or 3rd ) Jetski out there with you!
Personally all I carry is a Radio so I can call help if needed.....

Have fun, mate!
