World Finals-Day 1 of racing

Good Morning!!! It's 7:30am, and the temperature is 63 degrees. The winds are around 5 to 10mph, but, they are out of the South. That's a good thing. As most of you know, the race course is on the North side of the Island, to winds out of the South don't effect the course nearly as much as winds out of the North.

Interesting tid bit of Havasu "lore"; Normally, after October 1st, the predominant winds are out of the North, which really makes the course rough, so we are in for some good racing this year, as it appears the temps will warm back up for the weekend, and the winds should subside.

I'm getting ready to make a stop at Body Beach, on my way down to the event. Today will the the Jr's and "sporstmen" classes. These will be qualifier races for the main trophy event to be held for those classes later on in the week.

While many of you really want to know about the pro's, remember, this sport is all about the sportsman classes. Those are the classes that most of you can and do run in. So, many of you may have friends racing today. I am going to see what I can do to get results for each days race(s), and post them up.

I can't make any promises, but I will do my best to try and keep you all informed.

I'm off to the races..........

Yea, sorry about that. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, and I haven't had my second cup of coffee yet.

I'm back!!! I left at around 2pm. I got about 2000 pictures to sort through. I'm in the middle of resizing them and going through them to throw out the bad ones, then I will start uploading them, which should take a few hours.

When I'm done, I will just post the link to the new album page here.

As far as what happened today; It's all a blur. The temps were in the low 80's, with a stiff breeze out of the South, which didn't affect the riders to much, since the Island blocks part of the wind.

There is an ATV "thrill" show during the lunch break that is a must see!!! I got about 800 pictures just of those guys doing tricks!!

Some of the vendors are already set up, and some are still setting up.

Right now, my brain is kinda numb after being out in the sun taking pictures for the better part of 6 hours or so. I did not get a chance to see today's results, and really didn't find a way to get a copy. What they do is post them on the pit board, but I never could get a decent picture of it.

I kinda went a little nuts, like I always do the first day of racing/qualifying, so forgive me for posting so many pictures for the first day.
There are something like over 300 pictures, and like 18+ pages.
I actually shot over 1400 pictures, but I trimmed them down a bit. I was in a hurry, and probably could have trimmed quite a few more out, but I just got lazy.

I won't be uploading that many pictures again. I need to keep the size of the albums a little more manageable, and I also need to sort them a little better. All that takes time, and I just ran out of it.

Please be patient, as the next album(s) may not be done until the weekend, and the pro's weekend album probably won't be up until the middle or end of next week. I have a lot of other work to do, so I need to fit that in with shooting pictures at the WF's, and there is only so many hours of good daylight in which to shoot.

Hey iflyems, we appreciate all the photos and updates. You just do it at your own pace, you don't have to answer to anyone. You aren't getting paid by us. Thanks for all the work you're doing.
