| Re: bogus call Ah.... The Good Old Days. When I started racing in 1991 ALL ski riders went over the log jumps with the exception of beginners. Even Novice Women if I remember right. You could only race three times in beginner and then you were an official Novice, usually with four digit numbers. Also, since I had a 440 Superstock I was not allowed to race in beginner (stock skis only) - straight to Novice 440 Super - straight to log jumps. Back then there were usually three, some times four of them per lap, even ramps too. I got stuck teeter-tottered on them on my first race! The final round of BC Racing series in Marine Stadium had four log jumps and a ramp - all mandatory. The 12 lap finals meant 60 jumps to win a Novice Ski race. This year Pro Ski Stock did not do one log jump, what happened to our cajones? BTW, I hate the log jumps since they look so cheesy to spectators and ruin skis, but at least it's some kind of equalizer and has a little "extreme" value. |
