Amateur Runabout Open Moto One Results- Honorable Tribute

Amateur Runabout Open Moto One Results

November 6, 2009

The IJSBA would like to recognize all competitors in the Amateur Runabout Open class at the 2009 quakysense World Finals. These competitors elected to declare that Cesare Vismara was the 2009 World Champion as a tribute to their esteemed colleague.

It is important recognize exactly what was the magnitude of this tribute. Nineteen competitors raced competitively all season to be prepared for the World Finals and then incurred a great deal of expense and sacrifice to get there and advance to the Main Event which consists of two Motos. These persons all contested the Amateur Runabout Open and many of them could have been the World Champion.

Therefore the IJSBA would like to present the Moto 1 accomplishments* of the Amateur Runabout Open competitors so that they may all be congratulated on their successes as well as be recognized for what they gave in the ultimate demonstration of sportsmanship and respect for their follow racer:
Joesph Scaturchio
Billy Dearman
Jeremy Schandelmayer
Cesare Vismara
Deniso Casarini
Chutchanun Siriwattanakul
Guy Greenland
Montien Siriwattanakul
Giorgio Viscione
Roshaa Goff
Ricky Trevizo
Ryan Smith
Matthew Leggett
Joey Mauldin
Dan Silva
Weerapong Maneechom
Troy Snyder
Dennis Mack
Rainer Eidner
* These were the finishing positions based on the final posting on the pit board. Further adjustments, penalties, and unresolved missed buoy calls may not be reflected in these results.

I agree..all these riders gave up their quest to honour Cesare with the ultimate example of sportmanship.
We had two Aussies in there with Joesph and Gee and we think all these racers are Legends for what they decided and delivered.

Good work guys.

Spare a thought also for Shawn Alladio that has had to soldier through this situation in the first instance and has followed up with good thoughts here.

Shawn...you are amazing and we all know what you did on site as the total pro.

I hope I have put this message the right way...many of us are still not sure how to talk about this.

Re: Amateur Runabout Open Moto One Results- Honorable Tribute

Craig, not to be forgotten, thank you for my Aussie Gifts! It has been a difficult past few weeks.
Yes the Aussies and other racers in this division have an Esprit de Corps that resonantes honor.

I think that the shock of Cesare's death is far reaching and is transcending cultures, fears and concerns on myriad levels.
It is something difficult to embrace, it becomes personal because we knew Cesare, he was one of ours.

Vital, passionate and agressive he had that same imprint that so many of us have which is almosst obessional to get from
one race to a next, and continue through the many years, travels and experiences. He had an 18 year race career in
the PWC community. His family, like all families is in their own nightmare and that process alone is something none
of us can understand until we are also having to face the loss of our child before our time. I feel for their grieving hearts.
There is no right way or wrong way to grieve. But surely finding the gifts of life exchanging as we plot our path to our
death is something that we should and could all benefit from. Not the blame game, not anger, not faults, but how us,
the living now can appreciate the life we have, the friends, the colleagues, the work, our families, with greater understanding
and compassion. The reality is what we have to deal with, we will all die at some point, it is in the when and how that
remains a mystery, and in that a great fear of not controlling the inevitable exit.
Cesare cannot witness for himself any longer, yet we can witness and reflect as the living and surrender up to God
that which is his business.

One thing I take away from this is sportsmanship and the quality of the human spirit in difficult times. How we react,
respond and support one another with understanding can soften the mighty blows of reality. We are responsible for
our words, ways, deeds, thoughts and actions, it should not be taken lightly.

Cesare died amongst friends, he had a peaceful and loving ending in a serene atmosphere with our staff whom knew him,
I am very honored to have been there for him and to witness for his family, who could not be there. This is the one thing in
my heart that matters the most. It was all we could offer to him, and it was deserving of any warrior's ending.

Re: Amateur Runabout Open Moto One Results- Honorable Tribute

I think it should be known that the idea to finalize the overall result came from American racer & reigning world champion in the class Mr Billy Dearman.

As has been said elsewhere, this is one of the most honorable things ever seen in competition and Billy is a class act.

Never in 15 years of racing have I seen an entire race class agree unanimously to an idea with such support.

All the riders involved in the decision with the IJSBA need to be congratulated for putting their own personal ego's and agenda to one side to support a fellow racer.

This is so eloquently put, thank you for the clarification.
