WB1 wants to sink all the time, please help.

Hi, I am a complete idiot when it comes to riding, I find ways to turn my ski into a sub all the time.

The standard air intakes on my WB1 is unacceptable, the water that gushes in when I do a sub is enough to sink the Emma Maersk.

So I removed and closed the standerd intakes and I made a new one at the back, I removed the rear fire extinguisher cover and I turned it into my new air intake. Works better but still wants to sink.

The standard bilge pump is not strong enough, so I boght a 600 GPH Bilge pump on ebay. I am still waiting for it.

This is when I stumbles across one of my silly ideas. I made the rear compartment on my WB1 water tight using polyurethane rubber, I drilled large air holes for the air to go from the back to the front on the top.
The bilge pump will be in the back, I will have a switch to turn it on and off as I please.

I tested the theory by filling the rear end up with water, it fills up half way before the water spills into the front compartment. I will use builders foam to close the remaining gaps.

The rear compartment is now a huge water trap, I can use it to weigh down the rear end for new silly tricks. the engine remains dry at all times. The front bilge pump should be able to pump out all the water that comes into the front. The rear Bilge pump should keep it from sinking (I hope).

Can any of you predict a future problem with this setup?

I'm not quite following your idea, but I already know that I'm not fond of it.

Its darn near impossible to get my blaster 1 to take on water ... even when its tumbling in the surf.

Where are you mounting the bilge behind the bulkhead? My guess is you won't be able to mount it in a manner that removes all the water. However, that may not be a problem anyhow.

I would certaintly still have another bilge pump in the motor area. After all, you're riding a blaster in south africa, and you're talking about letting the back fill up with water so you can do "new silly tricks". You don't want one of your tricks to be "impersonating great white chum".

x2.

I always wonder when I hear guys talking about taking on tons of water in their b1s. I ride mine in the surf on lake michigan, and I sub it a bit on flatwater as well, and I never have much water get inside - and to this day, I still only have the OEM siphon bilge, no electric bilge at all. I guess I'm just not trying hard enough to sink it ...

If you see how big the problem is (only if I ride it) you will know that the bilge pump will have no problem sucking up all the water. My guess is that it will be submerged most of the time.

Right, but if it's not sitting flat on the bottom, some water will remain. Probably not much, depending on where you mount it, but some water will still be there - whatever the chine "valleys" can hold at least.
