waterbox

New to Yamaha. The threads for the hold down bolts are stripped out. Not much meat left to work with. Should I shop for a used one, or replace with aftermarket? Ideas?

Re: waterbox

If its just the bolts go to a hardware store and get replacements. Might cost you $3. Now if you mean the threads on the engine side are jacked, thats a different story. Best to check those also, if the bolt threads are destroyed theres a good chance the engine side is too. You can get some good bolts (with the same thread size obviosly) and run them in an out real slow with lots of lube. This can help straighten them out if they aren't too far gone. Dont use those bolts for the final hold down though. Just my two cents! Probably other ways.

Re: waterbox

Thanks for the tip. The thru holes in the block are good. It's the threads that are gone.
