Stock B1 Impeller Pitch?

Can anyone tell me the stock pitch on a B1, '96 to be specific? Also is there a chart where I can educate myself on the meaning of the pitch and what the differences are between pitches, low-end/top-end etc....

Re: Stock B1 Impeller Pitch?

ohhh golly, I think I just found my answer.

***The first number in the pitch is the degree angle at the outer edge and the second number is the degree pitch at the inner hub. It makes a smooth curve, somewhat similar to that of a prop.***

So lets say simply for an example, is someone had a 20/20 pitch, that would be an insane top end speed pitch but a 16/20 or 14/20 would be better low end? the further apart the numbers are generally indicates a better torque?

Ryan - stock pitch for a B1 (I'm pretty sure all years) is 14/18 from the factory.
Hope this helps,

Re: Stock B1 Impeller Pitch?

Thanks LBS4! I've been seeing 13/17 pitches offered a lot for sale so I figured it was right around there somewhere. Do you know of a good power pitched impeller? Thanks again.

Re: Stock B1 Impeller Pitch?

I am doing that homework for myself right now, all depends on application & other mods.
I see that 13/17 is very popular for freestyle / surf riding but I have also read that stock is pretty good & you will not have really noticeable gains the way you do when you change impellers in other skis????
Still researching for myself but I will keep you posted.
Apparently Dave at Impros is the man to talk to when you are ready to buy but I'm not there yet.

vshockey - what else have you done to your B1 & what kind of riding do you do?
www.wavejunkies.com has alot of really good info for surf / free-ride B1's & a few of those guys are on this site.

I ride flat water and Lake Michigan for some good waves... I had a coffmans signiture series purple pipe and an aftermarket 44 with that impeller ran 50 and got there in a hurry... this winter is make over time, that motor is out and a new surprise is going in

I have 2 different Yamaha service manuals and they each say it is a 15/18 pitch?
