modded blaster jetting??

I bought a modded blaster from florida , I am in Mo. at about 900 feet
It has a 152.5 main -it's to rich what would be a good starting place.

Mods are
factory b pipe
carbon tech reeds, I just added
high compression head 180 psi
after market flame arrester ,I forget the name

would 145 be too lean ?
What are oters running with similar mods an alt.

Re: modded blaster jetting??

I talked to Carbon Tech , they were the one who suggested going leaner, which was opposite of what my experiance of raceing 2t in dirt.

I put in the 145 ,it was much worse, I went to 155, the biggest I had, was somewhat better, but still way lean , from 3/4 to full it almost dies ,no matter what RPM the engine is at.
If I hold wide open and pump the primer , it will pickup and run much better as long as I keep feeding the extra fuel.

I'm going to try a 175 and work back if need be.

BTW it ran very good before the reed change, but plugs were very black, too rich.
Right now plugs are fairly close(tan) but thats running at less than 3/4 throttle

Re: modded blaster jetting??

I'm thinking it has to be fuel popoff, I guess i have to take it to a shop to have that checked.
I went from 145 to 180 with hardly any difference in preformance, it's still too lean at 3/4 to WOT.

Can popoff be checked with a regular vacum gauge , or is there a special one for that

150 main
2.3 N/S
95 gram spring
93-95 mod pipe in O-town is what I ran and it ran flawless....and hit like no other.

Re: modded blaster jetting??

I've tried everyjet from 140 to 180 , the falling on it's face is basically the same with all jets. I've checked with several "mechanics" about checking the pop off , the common answer was "replace the carb", several said to "put it back to stock" .....................WTF.

I still think it's not getting enough fuel at WOT but not 100% sure. Because RPM dosn't seem to be the cause of the problem, it's the 3/4 and above it any RPM that it stumbles
