| Intro & B1 questions Hi to all, I have been looking around the site for quite awhile & finally met a few of the guys yesterday off Ocean City shoals, great group & site.
Picked up a 96 B1 last month, stock except for a grate I have not yet identified, and am starting to put together ideas for a winter build. Cleaned the tank & carbs out, added primer & block off but thats it so far, runs great but not really enough.........
Other ski is a GP760 that I built to be really quick on the low end & I would like to make the Blaster similar. I am 99% ocean & surf riding, not worried about top end at all, will never see fresh flat water.
I have seen a few builds here that I like alot & am just trying to get some ideas right now, am going to ride it pretty much as is until it goes in the garage this winter. I did order bars, grips & throttle from guys on this site - awkward for me from the factory.
If you have a minute post your thoughts, thanks in advance.

LB | Hey man, I'm the guy on the White B1 from yesterday.
I think you are on to a good start with mods, bars are nice upgrade. You have a grate, alot of guys run the stock ride plate, I like the Jet Dynamics plate, you should be good with the stock prob for a little while. As for engine mods, I would toss a b-pipe on there and an MSD enhancer. See how you like it, if that's not enough, then start looking at heads, porting, or compression changes.
I rode my blaster with only a b-pipe and enhancer for a long time, it had great low end punch. Also, for low end I prefer the limited chamber.

| Re: Intro & B1 questions Thanks for feedback, Ed I think - apologies if wrong, names not always my strong suit.
Here is another question/idea - for the first $4-600 I am thinking solas prop, ride plate, flame arrestors w/ adapters & pre filters, re-jet/tune carbs, and turf. Only because thats the route I went on my GP based on advice from the Riva guys I used to ride with (I lived in Ft Lauderdale for the last 10 years). Not an argument in any way, just getting different ideas on bang-for-buck initial mods; all feedback very much appreciated.
Incidentally I was looking at the FFP B1/Raider pipe on ebay this am but saw some really negative things about the seller - do not remember if it is dry or limited? Also, I get a parts list regularly from a MadMax (?) who has the Riva Red pipe for about $300, anyone have experience? I have heard good things but also heard it is very heavy.
Also a shredmaster combo on ebay right now.....
Am planning to take ski completely apart this winter - re-finish, paint, the whole 9, time & funds permitting of course!
I do have a good, low hour 760 top end on hand, is this even possible?? Maybe I'm dreaming there, have to do more homework.
Again, thanks for advice,

| Re: Intro & B1 questions i wouldnt do the flame arrestors.... stay with stockers!!! they are more waterproof.... also go with a Factory Pipe.. i had the mod chamber, and it hit hard!!! deff an intake grate if you dont have one all ready.... also an a/m head for some pop... stock prop is decent too imo..... those bolt ons will wake up that 701 for sure! i also had a set of protaper bars on mine -- stock ones are weak and janky--- shave that seat down too, makes it easier to reboard and for arial tricks |

LB | Opinions vary on the flame arrestors. Some like stock, I like aftermarket. I would skip on the prop for now, you really don't need it, and won't until you start modding a little. There are also nice nice props out there now when you are ready, a little nicer than the solas.
Again, I'd go with flame arrestors, B-pipe, an enhancer, and a plate and grate, for now. See how you like it, and then go from there.
