Finally got a Blaster need a little help to get right

Hi All,
Finally found a Blaster locally in good shape. (will post pic when get her going)
It's a 94 the guy sold it because she won't open up.
I put it in and it ran great for about 5 or 600 feet then dropped into limp mode and I had to ease her back and on the trailer. I was thinking bad temp sensor...but the block felt hotter then my Raider does after I ride it (to hot to keep hand on but touchable) so I am reluctant to pull the sensor and try her in fear of overheating the block.
Compresion is 140 and 137 in the cly's
Nothing stuck on prop or shaft.
Blows water from dischage on side when under power. (did notice puff of black smoke from it when put back on trailer just figure dirty exhaust).
Looking over her I can't see anything that jumps out at me wrong.
Any suggestiions would help.
Also is there a way to test that heat sensor?
Other problem prop houseing shows wear ring. Suggestions on what to check beside replacing the prop and shaft? Also what props should I look at?
Thanks for your time.

Sounds to be either a bad head gasket or a clogged cooling line...!!!

Look at your cooling pipes, do they flow when the engine idles? If not it is clogged. I don't use a temperature sensor, I have the pissers on the side that sprays the water onto me, I can feel when it overheats. My head does not have a temperature sensor attachment.

Does the ski cut out when you turn sharply?

The above isn't totally true. When the head gasket went bad on my it would not flow water at idle.

Clogged water line? Try one of these: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/4YD30?Pid=search
Keep it tied up off the bottom of your ski so it doesn't take hard hits, cheap insurance against clogged lines.
