Question Coffman pipe question about mounting hardware

Ihave a B1 with a coffman pipe. The bolts that go thru the head on the stinger side of the coupler manifiold bracket have sleeves to them. One of the ones I have busted and now the head is loose. I took the bolts out and was wondering if anyone has found a D.I.Y. way to replace those spacers, or if just cutting some steel pipe and replacing the rubber shock absorbers on the bolts between the washers was just as good for replacing the stock hardware.

Its a heavy pipe and I don't want to snap the mounting bracket or exhaust manifold bracket or case mounting screws, so Im looking for options or ideas how to prevent it from being an issue for racing or hitting big chop and wake slap from hard landings.

Re: Coffman pipe question about mounting hardware

Yeah Kev, I have tried email to them, but no reply in 2 weeks.

I will shoot them another on Monday.

here are some pics of my debacle, but I think I may have fixed it with some automotive rubber grommet bushings and some steel tubing.
Im cleaning all the soot out, and it should be ready to rip for first splash next spring

Still need to find some gasket glue or make a thicker layer of rubber gasket shim where the clamp leaks and I get blowout/ blowby exhaust over the top of the pipe union.

Re: Coffman pipe question about mounting hardware

Yeah, its on the list of replacement year end maintanance items. Its pressure fatugued and compressed 2mm smaller than they are brand new, and not sealing tight (hence the exhaust leak) when clamped all the way down. I have one that I think will work on order from NAPA.

I will have pics soon with the re-build of the pipe. Should be solid for next season with this bracket Im modding and result in little to no fears of snapping any bolts or case sidewalls. With any luck the modifications will be of use to the PWC community en-masse !
