Another new owner of an x2

alright finaly got myself an x2 never rode one in my life. but after seeing this site i had to get one so i picked up a 86 x2 everything is stock down to the oil injection. so today i took off the oil pump and blocked it off, im kinda a diy guy so i didnt want to spend 20 bucks on a block off kit and i also want to take it out this weekend so i put a aluminum plate and a gasket just wondering if that would hold good or should i just buy that kit i also had a spare garden hose with ends so i put a flush kit on it lol another on the cheap rig up. and ive been reading that i cant drill my water box because it has that turn on the ends so i was woundering if i should just get a stock 88-95 water box and drill it out or just go with a coffmans water box. also last ? my trim know is a pain in the A$$ to turn is that how stock feels??? well if i go riding this weekend (hopfully it doesnt rain because i hate the cold weather) to see how it handles and more then likely im gonna hate the way it handle im gonna do that 1.5 chop off the back or im thinking 2" off and d cut my stock ride plate. thanks and im open to any suggestion.

here sum pic of the block plate ill post sum pics of the hull tomorrow

Re: Another new owner of an x2

my 86 trim is hard to adjust also, and the 86 trim dont lock it would skip out of position , .

if you decide to buy a stock waterbox i have one for sale , also have a locking trim setup if you want one

Re: Another new owner of an x2

i did a test on a drilled stock waterbox VS a mariner .

the stocker gave as much power increse as mariner , but the stocker took a few second's to clear the water out after crusing around slow , were as the mariner seem's to stay dried out better and have better low end throttle response , everyone seems to think the mariner is annoying loud but IMO a drilled stocker is just as loud

You need the locking knob and the little tab that mounts to the hull right under it. That's where the locks lock.

Cool maybe ill go with a marine water box. How much you want for your stock water box? ? Pm me. As for the trim lever I'm thinking I'm gonna go with a freestyle lever like that tread on a 25$ freestyle trim setup. thanks cave

Re: Another new owner of an x2

Welcome.

I wouldnt worry about how it handles. Just ride it and have fun. It takes some time to get use to riding it , your not going to be able to tell if it handles good or not. With the motor in stock form the handleing really isnt an issue.

If your trim is hard to turn it could be the cable. There is a quick release on the cable so you can undo it and just try and move the cable itself.

The oil block off should be fine , your just trying to keep water out of there , no preasure being held back.

Re: Another new owner of an x2

I've tried stock drilled, westcoast, coffmans, and supertrapp and supertrapp (with discs) Is by far my favorite waterbox. sounds MEAN and not too loud. rumnble yet it stays pretty cleared out...
