4 or 5 wire stators

Sooooo here it goes I have a 650 motor that has a 4 wire stator I have a X2 hull that's had a five wire motor. What do I need to change to make it work? Currently the motor runs and the stop and start switch work but it will not charge the battery.

I have looked at diagrams for both seems on a 4 wire stator one of the voltage regulator wires go to the start switch?

Has anyone delt with this before?

Re: 4 or 5 wire stators

the 5th wire is nothing but a ground. it is not needed.

+1.

We had to wire a 5 wire ebox to a 4 wire stator, the 5th is ground. Just plug it into the other ground.

Earthing it to the engine would be more polite...
